The Rutgers MFA in design immerses students in critical inquiry and experimental making, to design for a changing world. Combining studio work with speculative thinking, the program focuses on interdisciplinary research to inform the creation of publications, interfaces, information, and experiences.
The portfolio should show your experience skills and interests as a form-giver. You may include works created under academic guidance, by commission or through self-driven research. Please provide examples of the full range of your recent practice, whether focused or diverse.

Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University–New Brunswick offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in dance, design, filmmaking, music, theater, and visual arts on an inspiring campus closely networked with the local and NYC arts communities.
This is a place to hone one’s craft, to engage with emerging and established theater artists, and to study the new, the ancient, and the innovative in the unique alchemy of performance. We love what theater can do and we embrace the opportunity to help support and develop new voices in the theater.
These roots continue to influence experimental approaches in Art & Design. The BFA in Visual Arts offers concentrations in drawing, media, painting, photography, print, and sculpture. Students may also opt to pursue a BA in Art or Art Minor.
