The school is regularly amongst the top-performing schools in England, and in 2010 was the school with the best results in the English Baccalaureate.

  4. Bishop Wordsworth personally donated £3000 (about £35,000 today), which was used to purchase a portion of land in the Cathedral Close and build the original school buildings. After Bishop Wordsworth's death in 1911, the school was renamed to Bishop Wordsworth's School to continue the lasting tradition of quality education that he had started.
