Laurence Michael Harvey Parsons, 6th Earl of Rosse, KBE (28 September 1906 – 5 July 1979) was an Anglo-Irish peer.
26 de abr. de 2022 · "Lawrence Michael Harvey Parsons, 6th Earl of Rosse (28 September 1906 - 5 July 1979) was an Irish peer. He was the son of William Edward Parsons, 5th Earl of Rosse, whom he succeeded in 1918, and Frances Lois Lister-Kaye.
He was Lord Lieutenant of King's County from 1831 to 1867 and President of the Royal Society from 1849 to 1854. He was succeeded by his son, the fourth Earl. He was an Irish Representative Peer between 1868 and 1908 and Lord Lieutenant of King's County between 1892 and 1908.
The Hon. Desmond Parsons was the younger brother of Michael, the 6th Earl. He was born in 1910, studied at Oxford. Good looking and charming, he was also a brilliant linguist and in 1934 he went to China where his friend Harold Acton was already in the Beijing lecturing at Peking National University.
2 de jul. de 2024 · The following year, Anne married Michael Parsons, 6th Earl of Rosse, moving with him to Birr Castle in Ireland. She gave birth to two more sons: Brendan Parsons, later the 7th Earl of Rosse, and the Hon. Desmond Parsons.
Anne married Michael Parsons, 6th Earl of Rosse, on 19 September 1935. Rosse had extensive estates in Ireland and was nicknamed "The Adonis of the Peerage". [8] They had two sons and five grandchildren: Brendan Parsons, 7th Earl of Rosse (born 21 October 1936), who married Alison Cooke-Hurle on 15 October 1966.
